Raising Awareness of Exploitation and Vulnerability in sport

(Covering County Lines, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery)

 

Safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults is everybody’s responsibility and sports coaches, clubs and volunteers play a key role in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin in creating great places for young people to thrive using sport.

This course aims to raise awareness of vulnerability factors, the varying areas of exploitation focusing on County Lines, Human Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation and Modern Slavery as it relates to sport clubs especially

This is in order to upskill people involved in sport to feel confident in recognising the signs and symptoms and how to report concerns, thus ensuring best practice is embraced.

What will this training help me do?

  • Identify the vulnerability factors
  • Explain what the various forms of exploitation are
  • Recognise the signs, symptoms and indicators of the various forms of exploitation
  • Understand exploitation and vulnerability and how it impacts on a young person in respect of trauma

Know how to respond, record and report concerns and how to signpost.

Who can attend?

Anyone with an interest in safeguarding young people in sport, from any sports clubs. Including sports coaches, volunteers, and officials. All attendees must be affiliated to a national governing body registered club.

Ticket allowance: Football clubs please book via Shropshire FA.

Bookings: Users are required to give 48 hours’ notice prior to the event for cancellation otherwise full payment will be charged

Cancellation By Energize: Energize should endeavour to give users the same notice periods as above, however there may be times when circumstances are beyond Energizes control, e.g bad weather. In all cases a full refund should be offered, or payments already received transferred to future bookings
