Create a Positive Sports Experience for Young People

Every child deserves to enjoy their sport. This workshop will raise your awareness of the telltale signs of abuse, and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career.

Updated to address the impact of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and includes content on Anti-radicalisation and Vulnerable Children and Adults.

Course Information:

Minimum Age - 16

Course Duration - 3 hours

Group Size - 20 max

Course Content:

  • Identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching
  • Explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise their potential impact on your response
  • Recognise and respond to possible signs of child abuse
  • Take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise
  • Vulnerable Children and Adults
  • Anti-radicalisation

Please note if you're a young volunteer in sport under the age of 16 - Keeping Safe in Sport: Safeguarding for Young Volunteers (13+) - is the workshop for you. Anyone under the age of 16 will not receive a certificate for attending this workshop. 

(This workshop is a - Minimum Standards for Active Coaches - requirement for many governing bodies of sport. The Minimum Standards for Active Coaches are seen as the basic standards every coach needs to meet to carry out their role safely and effectively)

Bookings: Users are required to give 48 hours’ notice prior to the event for cancellation otherwise full payment will be charged

Cancellation By Energize: Energize should endeavour to give users the same notice periods as above, however there may be times when circumstances are beyond Energizes control, e.g bad weather. In all cases a full refund should be offered, or payments already received transferred to future bookings
