National Support


London Sport has compiled a list of guidance notes, on returning to play, from sports’ national governing bodies

The coronavirus-specific section of the Club Matters website is up and running. This has been populated with a number of new resources, case studies and guidance, with more being developed soon.  All resources are designed to provide some helpful advice for clubs and delivery organisations. This includes support with writing a risk assessment which can be found here.

Club Matters have explored topics like; the financial support available from the Government, securing your facilities during short term closure, business continuity planning, running your organisation virtually and ideas to help keep members engaged from home. Information is available in a variety of formats, from web pages to downloadable resources and guidance notes.

Club Matters has now included guidance to help sports clubs prepare for reopening, how to develop a risk register, tips to enforce social distancing, and more.


Just to let you know that Sport England’s £1m crowdfunding programme ‘Active Together ‘ is now live.  You can find out more on programme objectives, criteria and how it works here.

As part of the programme, Crowdfunder provide advice and support on developing a successful campaign. This includes running monthly webinars where local clubs and organisations can find out more. The next webinar is at 5pm on 15 July.

A quick way to apply for smaller amounts of funding between £300 and £10,000. Suitable for voluntary or community organisations. In a statement, CEO Dawn Austwick stated all the funding decisions they make for the next six months (up to £300m of National Lottery funding) will be devoted to addressing the current crisis. This is restricted to:

  • Activities specifically geared to supporting communities through this crisis
  • Helping organisations overcome any liquidity issues caused by COVID-19.
