Funding to support your club, coaches and volunteers grow and thrive in  association with Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022

Overview

As part of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games we have been able to access funding on behalf of Sport England and the National Lottery to focus on addressing inequalities across communities in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

For this fund, we are wishing to hear from local community clubs offering sport and physical activity opportunities who need assistance to keep activating or reaching out to disadvantaged people in their communities. This could include people with disabilities, people with long term health conditions, people from ethnically diverse communities and people on lower incomes.

What funding can we offer?

Up to £2500 to support with the following:

  • Project delivery costs – there might be some initial costs needed to help set up the project and to support with sustainability such as funding the first 6-12 weeks of an activity until a regular group is formed.
  • Skill development – A key part of this funding is to develop our local sport and physical activity workforce. We want you and your wider workforce to feel skilled and experienced in welcoming more diverse audiences to your community club/group. Therefore we are encouraging groups to consult with their workforce and ask what training they want or might need.
  • Equipment –  in order to sustain your activity you might require additional equipment for the groups or adaptive equipment where needed.
  • Marketing – You might explore innovative ways of promoting and sharing your new opportunities with target groups such as Facebook sponsored posts, leaflet drops etc.
